Heart & Hope: St. Aidan’s CBS Bake Sale Raises Funds for India Immersion and the Irish Heart Foundation

Heart & Hope: St. Aidan’s CBS Bake Sale Raises Funds for India Immersion and the Irish Heart Foundation

On February 13th, the spirit of giving and community came alive at St. Aidan’s CBS, where students hosted a hugely successful Valentine’s Bake Sale in aid of two incredible causes — their upcoming India Immersion Trip and the Irish Heart Foundation.

The event was bursting with colour, sweet treats, and student-led enthusiasm. Tables were lined with an impressive selection of cakes, cookies, buns, and other delicious homemade goods — all lovingly baked and beautifully displayed. The result? A phenomenal €1,700 raised for the 2025 India Immersion Programme and €735 donated to the Irish Heart Foundation.

At Cico Sports, we were proud to see the students decked out in their custom St. Aidan’s CBS half-zips, designed and supplied by our team. Looking sharp, unified, and full of positive energy, the students not only served up baked goods, but also a powerful message about community engagement, compassion, and global citizenship.

What is the India Immersion Programme?

This October, five staff members and thirteen students will embark on a life-changing journey to Delhi, India, as part of the school’s seventh Immersion Project. These projects, rooted in the Edmund Rice ethos, are a core expression of the values upheld by Edmund Rice schools — creating opportunities to engage with and support communities in the developing world.

In the past, St. Aidan’s students travelled to Tanzania, raising over €45,000 in 2019 to support education, healthcare, and social development initiatives. The upcoming Delhi trip in 2025 marks the first time the school will travel to India, with plans to assist groups working with children in slums, victims of acid attacks, and human rights organisations.

These experiences leave a lasting impact on the students involved, cultivating global awareness, empathy, and a deep appreciation for the challenges faced by others. The students become ambassadors — not only for their school and parish in Whitehall but for a more compassionate, connected world.

How You Can Help

Fundraising is key to making this mission a reality. While the bake sale was a sweet success, more initiatives are planned in the coming months — from race nights and quizzes to bag-packing and church gate collections.

If you’d like to contribute to this incredible cause, donations can be made via their official GoFundMe page:
